Give It Five Group Ride Welcomed All Riders at the Rift

Over 20 riders met up Thursday evening to enjoy a fun group ride at the Rift Valley Trails. Riders of all levels, from experts to beginners, gathered in the parking lot. The gathering of riders divided itself into smaller groups based on the kind of ride each desired. Some riders choose to work on skills with Susie Flore;  A group of trail burners joined Loren Bell to set a fast pace; and the rest joined John Poynter on an easy pace of the entire Rift Outer Loop.

However, before any tracks could be laid, and despite the excitement of the group, the ride was impacted by an impressive show of Lightening. Safety dictated that we cancel the ride. Committed to enjoying each others company that wet evening, the group re convened for beverages at The Tap room in downtown Taos to keep the fun rolling.

The Give It Five Group Rides are an opportunity for riders to enjoy the company of fellow MTBers, to experience new trails and to cultivate a new TMBA initiative… Give It Five. As trail users, Give It Five encourages each rider to spend five minutes each ride to improve the trail they are enjoying. It is an attitude of ownership, responsibility and investment in the trails we use. We use, we improve. Every ride is an opportunity to invest in the resource we love, trails. When we all “Give It Five” each ride, we will see a significant improvement in our trails AND our level of enjoyment.

The next Give Five Ride is scheduled for August 15th. Stay tuned for more details, and keep an eye on our calendar for other events. And remember Give It Five!
